B.E. Council Hold First Meeting of 2019

Monday night was the first meeting of the year for the Blue Earth City Council.  At the beginning of the meeting, Wendy Cole, Marty Cassem and Russ Erichsrud were sworn in for another four year term on the Council.

The meeting is also the organizational meeting for the year.  Mayor Rick Scholtes said the Council approved changes to three meeting dates during the year, set committee assignments for 2019 and took care of other matter that need approval on an annual basis.

The Council also discussed the bid received for the new slide at the Swimming Pool.  Scholtes said the City received three bids for the new slide and the Swimming Pool Director will review the bids and report back to the Council so the final decision can be made and installation can happen before the pool opens.

The Council continued their discussion on the Purchase Agreement for the Three Sisters Buildings on Main Street.  They are hoping to approve the final agreement at their next meeting on the 22nd.

Council Members also discussed the location for the Veterans Monument Park, the City’s goals for 2019 and approved an addition to the City’s Street Policy that will allow the City to apply for State Funding to help cover the costs associated with the Safe Routes to School Project planned for 2020.
