Country Commissioners Table Hog Confinement Permit, Approve Purchase of Vehicles for Sherriff’s Department

On Tuesday the Faribault County Commissioners passed a motion to return a request to the Environmental Quality Board to re-evaluate a decision regarding who is the responsible government unit to decide the fate of a permit for a hog confinement farm, southwest of Blue Earth.

Commissioner Tom Loveall said that the Commissioner’s decided to table a decision until they received a response from the EQB.

The Commissioners also approved the early purchase of three Ford Explorers for the Sherriff’s Department.  Loveall said that the cars were budgeted for next year but by purchasing this year, the County will save over $20,000.

County Engineer Mark Daly reported to the Commissioners that the State of Minnesota is considering turning back to the County Highways 253 and 254.  Daly also informed the Board that construction on Highway 32 in Wells is basically complete, the bridge projects on 425th and 480th Ave are done and there will be cost increases to the reconstruction on Highway 4 because of additional shoulder improvements.
