Rainfall Slowed Fieldwork Across MN Last Week According to USDA

According to the USDA, scattered rainfall prevailed across Minnesota last week and that slowed down fieldwork.

The warm weather this week, with strong winds have helped to dry out some fields in Faribault County and there have been reports of some farmers starting to harvest their soybeans.

As of Sunday, statewide topsoil moisture supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 14 percent short, 73 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus.

The same weekly report indicated that Minnesota’s potato harvest was 22 percent complete, 10 days behind average and 75 percent of the state’s sugarbeet crop were rated good to excellent.
