Minnesota Sees Mostly Dry and Cool Conditions Last Week

According to the USDA, Minnesota saw mostly dry and cool conditions that allowed farmers 5.5 days rated suitable for fieldwork last week.

 

Statewide topsoil moisture supplies were rated 9 percent short, 72 percent adequate and 16 percent surplus.

 

The same weekly report indicated that the second cutting of alfalfa hay statewide was 90 percent complete, only one day behind last year but one week ahead of average.

 

Sunflower condition was rate 76 percent good to excellent condition and 95 of the state’s potato crop was rated in good to excellent condition.
