Jordan Man Killed, Mankato Man Critical After 169 Accident near Belle Plaine

A Jordan man was killed and a Mankato man was critically injured in a three vehicle crash north of Belle Plaine just after 4pm on Monday.


The State Patrol says 27 year old Howard Bartholoma, of Jordan, was northbound on Highway 169 when he lost control, crossed the centerline and sideswiped a southbound vehicle.


Authorities say Bartholoma then collided head on with another vehicle driven by 33 year old Luke Frederick of Mankato.


Bartholoma was pronounced dead at the scene.


Frederick was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries the other driver was not injured.


A portion of Highway 169 was shut down for several hours Monday afternoon and evening.
