According to the USDA’s Weekly Crop Report there were 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork in Minnesota last week.
Nicky Miranowski, Director of the Faribault County FSA Office said the weather over the weekend helped farmers move forward with the planting season. The small grains are pretty much planted and a lot of progress was made on corn planting.
Statewide 9 percent of Minnesota’s corn crop has been planted, nine days behind last year and 16 days behind average and 1 percent of the state’s soybean crop had been planted as of Sunday night.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 6 percent short, 71 percent adequate and 22 percent surplus.
