DNR Officials Remind Residents to Stay Away From Ice Dams

Ice jams may be cool to look at, but DNR Officials are warning area residents not to get involved with them.

With warming temperatures in the forecast across the region, many rivers in the area are starting to jam up with ice. Conservation Officers and Law Enforcement Officials said, it is best to watch from shore as ice jams are very unpredictable and there is no reason to go onto a river at this time of year.

Snow depths of up to a foot have been reported along some rivers in Southern Minnesota, as the snow melts additional flooding will ad to ice jam problems across the state.
